EIP(Early Identification Program) is a 5-year college preparatory program for students who will be the first in their family to attend a four-year college in the United States. EIP is a collaborative effort between Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) and George Mason University (GMU). The EIP program is one of four programs that make up the College Success Program in FCPS.

  The requirements are the following:

  • The student is a current 7th grader at a public middle school..
  • The student’s parents/guardians do not have a 4-year college degree in the United States.
  • A GPA of at least 3.2.

Make sure you contact your counselor or possibly your AVID teacher.  This program is open for 7th graders until February 11, 2021. Here are some words from our counselors at Glasgow, Mrs. Otoyo and Mrs. Wasserman:

“It enriches students and involves parents in the EIP process.”-Mrs.Otoyo

:“Explains the College process to students.” -Mrs. Wasserman

“Help find Financial Aid and find scholarships.”-Mrs. Otoyo

A good community in general to have a small community in HS.”-Mrs. Wasserman

“Starting from 8th grade to graduation in the 12th grade EIP members will be with you.”.-Mrs. Otoyo

This does not mean it does not come without challenges. Mrs. Otoyo says,“[The] hard part is to attend and participate.”

Again, if you are interested in EIP, contact your counselor or possibly, your AVID teacher.

Also if you are 6th grade or in 7th grade right now, consider this opportunity for next year or today.
