8th Grade students, their families, and the Glasgow Middle School Staff came together virtually last night to celebrate our students and their accomplishments throughout their time in middle school.

Two significant awards were announced.

The Ellen Glasgow Award is presented to one rising 9th grade Glasgow Middle School student each year. This award recognizes excellence in academic achievement attained despite challenges faced by the student. The recipient of this award truly embodies all the characteristics of the IB Learner Profile; Inquirer, Knowledgeable, Thinker, Communicator, Principled, Open-Minded, Caring, Risk-Taker, Balanced, and Reflective. For the 2020-2021 school year, we would this to present Kevin Duarte-Sandoval, with this award.

The Principal’s Award is presented to members of the rising 9th grade class of Glasgow Middle School. This award recognizes one student that not only excelled in academics but also made a positive impact on their school and community. In order to be nominated for this award, the students must demonstrate service to his/her school and community. For the 2020-2021 school year, we would this to present Victoria Quiteno, with this award.

For the individual teacher awards, the administration will send an email out to all the winners to congratulate them and let them know that they should be receiving their certificate via mail within the next couple of weeks.

A video presentation was shared to celebrate the 8th-grade students.  Four student speakers (Xiaoyu “Misha” Speede, Safa Touri, Rewan Faraq, and Saron Amdemeskel) were selected to share their memories, staff declared their well-wishes, and many pictures of students were displayed.  Here is the video that was shown:

The evening wrapped up with a message from Principal Victor Powell and a virtual art gallery.

Congratulations rising 9th graders!
