Pfizer Vaccine for Adolescents Coming Soon

The Pfizer Coronavirus vaccine is set to be approved by the FDA by next week. The vaccine is called the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine and will be available for 12-15-year-olds. Once more children are vaccinated, the rate of Covid-19 spreading and hospitalization will significantly decrease around the world.
During the clinical trials for the vaccine, Pfizer noticed mild-flu-like symptoms showing the vaccine was working and proving the children had beneficial immune system responses. Pfizer, via pfizer.com, claims that “In participants aged 12-15 years old, BNT162b2 demonstrated 100% efficacy and robust antibody responses, exceeding those reported in a trial of vaccinated 16-25-year-old participants in an earlier analysis, and was well tolerated.” Meaning that the vaccine is working well for 12-15-year-olds, by strengthening their immune system against Covid-19 and providing antibodies to fight the virus. Along with testing children ages 12-15-years-old, Pfizer says they are also testing children 6 months old to 11 years old. This means younger children will be able to get the vaccine in the future, decreasing the amount of Covid-19 and hospitalizations around the world even more.
This is significant to Glasgow because once the vaccine is approved and distributed, Glasgow students will be able to get the vaccine. With Glasgow students well vaccinated, more students will be able to come in person, participate in more normal activities, and hang out with friends.
