February Panther Spotlight: Lester Gutierrez-Good

The Panther spotlight for this month goes to none other than Mr. Gutierrez-Good! Mr. Gutierrez-Good is the Spanish and Computer Explorations teacher here at Glasgow. He has been teaching for 16 years, this being his first year teaching at Glasgow.

Mr. Gutierrez-Good grew up in Mexico, and then later on moved to the U.S.A. He grew up with his parents separated but got to see both of them often. He also grew up with his brother and step brothers. Mr. Gutierrez-Good went to school in both Mexico and America. “I went to preschool and kindergarten in Mexico, and then finished elementary, middle, and high school in the United States.” Mr. Gutierrez-Good then went on to get master’s degrees in business administration and bilingual education, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Mr. Gutierrez-Good has always wanted to be a teacher. “I love children, it is a lot of fun. Teaching keeps me young. I learn from my students. I love seeing children grow and learn. Teaching is my calling.” Mr. Gutierrez-Good found out about Glasgow from his wife and started teaching at Glasgow as a substitute during the 2020-2021 school year. He started to connect with the kids and become a part of the Glasgow community. “I wanted to teach at Glasgow because I love technology, Spanish, and the IB program. It is also so diverse and welcoming!”

Outside of school Mr. Gutierrez-Good likes to read the newspaper as well as watch sports. “I hope to teach my students how to be committed and give them skills they will later on be able to use in life such as getting work done on time, staying focused on the task at hand and teaching them to be confident in their skills and to keep on pushing even when it gets tough.”

Mr. Gutierrez-Good has helped our school and our students even during his short time working here. He’s a very dedicated teacher that the Glasgow community is happy to have!
